He bought his first Christmas gift of the year for me, but instead of using wrapping paper he decided he wanted to try and be crafty by trying to use the store bag that the gift came in. He carefully disassembled it and used it to wrap the gift, and then used the ribbon giftbag handles to fashion a homemade bow. I'd say he did a pretty good job, especially with the bow. I sure can't do bows like that!

So now the first gift of the year sits under our little tree waiting for Christmas morning. Cute, huh?

We'd like to NOT thank the Wal-Mart customers who took all of the colored light trees, and we'd especially like to not thank the Wal-Mart associate who notified us that "We're outta the colored light trees. You shoulda bought your tree in November". We'd also like to NOT thank all the All-A-Dollar customers for taking all the ornament hooks, and the All-A-Dollar manager who informed us that "Oh, too bad. We don't have any ornament hooks left. They flew off the shelves yesterday". (We ended up having to substitute paperclips for the hooks). However, we'd like to note that despite the fact we are NOT thanking these individuals, we wish them all a Merry Christmas nonetheless. :-)

I'd like to thank my sweetheart of a husband Sean, our Production Manager. It is his hard work and dedication in supporting us that makes everything possible. Plus, he picked the garland and the candy canes. And the wrapping paper :-)

I'd like to thank my Design Assistant, our cute kitty Paw. Her tangling of the lights, batting the ornaments, and playing in the empty tree box made for an enjoyable evening.

Today's post is centered around the little girl that provides sunshine and smiles to our life--- our little Amelia Grace. I hope you'll bear with us as we post a bunch of pics...the unfortunate thing for us is that we live 1000 miles away, so we LIVE for the pictures we get of her.

From the day we first heard her heartbeat, and saw her on ultrasound, we've been hooked. Both Sean and I feel such a strong, spiritual bond to and closeness to her. We know she came into our family for very specific purposes. Heavenly Father knew we each needed her in our own special way. I know Sean really struggles being the only one that hasn't been able to hold her yet, but he says that it doesn't change the feelings he has for her. He says he's MORE than stoked for the day he can finally hold and snuggle her. He LOVES watching videos of her and talking to her on the phone. He especially loves shopping for her, and admits that its probably a blessing he doesn't have more credit cards "cause we'd be up to our armpits in baby debt".

I can tell you that for me, she's been a saving grace...(her name is more than appropriate in this respect). I've been trying for 3 years to get pregnant with no such luck. I never dreamed growing up that I'd be pushing 30 and unable to conceive. This struggle has been physical and emotional and deeply spiritual. It has caused me to question my testimony, the meaning of life, my purpose for living, and even my own innate womanhood. I have felt great hatred fo myself and my body for not working the way its supposed to. I've cried more tears than I'd care to think about and felt anger and grief more deeply than I care to admit to. While the birth of Millie hasn't magically made that all disappear, she has provided me with a small bit of peace and comfort that I know comes from none other than
my Father in Heaven. I've had many prayers answered through her, and she and I have shared quiet, tender moments where the heavens were opened, and my heart was healed and my soul replenished. Our bond is eternal, and I love her more than words can say.

We are just so grateful for this little angel. Its as her Uncle Sean always says..."Millie's our favorite!" :-)

It was this time 3 years ago that Sean and I were preparing for our wedding day...specifically the week of my bridals! I LOVED my photographer and had a blast getting these done at Thanksgiving Point Gardens. I would HIGHLY recommend our photographers to anyone...they are absolutely amazing! Tale of the Very Odd Christmas Tree

Sean and I started off the 2011 Christmas countdown by opening the advent calendars from his parents. We also spent the morning going to several stores looking for Christmas gifts and cheap decoration ideas. We found a cute little tree on sale for 25 bucks...we didn't get it yet, but that's probably what we'll end up going with. Sadly, its only 4 feet tall...(our standards for Christmas trees are firm...its not a real Christmas tree unless its taller than Sean), however this years meek and lowly budget just simply will not allow for such luxury. With the help of our trusty tape measure, we brilliantly recognized that if we were to place a 4 foot tree on our 2 ft 3in wooden plant pedestal, it would bring us to 6ft 3 in tall. This would be okay for most people, but still did not pass our standards, as I have a VERY tall hubby. :-) We then remembered that we could add a tree topper, thus allowing for more height. A 10 inch one would bring the entire masterpiece to Sean's exact height, which we figured is the best we can do this year!!! It'll probably look very odd when its all put together, but it's better than having nothing! :-) Question...Do you prefer white or colored lights on your Christmas tree?????

Today we got our family Christmas gift names pulled, so we know who we're shopping for this year! Our assignments for my family are Dad and Boo, and for the Beyers is Matty and Bren. We'll also be automatically sending stuff for our niece Millie and Sean's brother Jeremy who is serving his mission. I'm excited to get shopping!! I have good reason not to procrastinate this year, since we need to ship everything out.

I've also got the "Christmas Decorating Bug" but am not sure what to do about it....you see, all our Christmas stuff (decorations, village, lights, stockings, train)...EVERYTHING...is in storage in Utah. We don't have money to ship it out here, nor do we have money to replace it all.

:o( What to do??? Anybody have any good ideas you're willing to share???

Utter Sadness

Isn't it amazing how you can go from such incredible highs to such depressing lows? The day I've been dreading has finally arrived and Rae and Nate went back home today. We all stopped downtown at the Scandinavian shop for a Danmark hat for Nate and at the gift shop cause Rae wanted buffalo jerky. We then headed to Perkins for some breakfast. Afterwards we made a stop at the Sioux Falls Humane Society to check it out. They found a beautiful Siberian Husky they both fell in love with. Sadly they couldn't afford to ship her home. We headed home afterwards, they packed up, we dropped Sean off at work, and then I took them to the airport. It sucks so bad to say goodbye, not knowing when you'll see each other again. I came home and sat in the deafening silence. *sigh.....*

I'm grateful they came. Sean and I both love my family so much. Now comes the attempt at jumping back into our non-exciting and fairly monotonous life, dreaming of the next time we're all together again, and remembering the fun times we had :-)

The Grand Adventure

*Disclaimer: If you have not seen Disney's The Princess and the Frog, this is your official spoiler alert!!*

We decided to forego the typical black Friday shopping fiascos and opted instead to pick a direction on the map and make an adventure out of it. The morning was a late start due to the fact that Sean had to work from midnight to 5am at his Best Buy job. Poor guy was tired but didnt want to sleep the day away. We first treated Rae and Nate to lunch at Hu Hot. Its an AMAZING Mongolian Grill restaurant. You choose from an assortment of meats, seafood, veggies, noodles, etc and the chef grills it all up for you on a huge rotating grill. They show off by doing cool tricks and what not with their spatulas and stuff. It was a lot of fun and tasted so yummy! With full bellies we drove east and ended up all around Southwestern Minnesota. Highlights included the town of Luverne, stopping for a large herd of buffalo outside Blue Mound State Park, Pipestone (the Pipestone Natl Monument on the Lakota (Sioux) reservation and the Native American shop at the old Pipestone Train Depot, where we got lots of neat stories from a Lakota man. We then drove through the prairie, passing through many small towns, taking in the beauty of the earth. I won't lie...we did get lost atI thought one point, but that was just part of the fun. We eventually crossed back over into South Dakota, coming through Dell Rapids and making our way back down to Sioux Falls. When we got home we dropped the guys off at Ausatds (a golf store), and Rae and I came home and started watching The Princess and the Frog. She was shocked when I told her I had not seen it, so she made me rent it so we could watch it together before she left. I thought it was cute! I do have to make a confession though....I cried. My absolute favorite part was when Raymond the lightning bug was singing to his sweetheart Evangeline (the North Star). It was so beautiful and romantic. When he got squished at the end, I was sobbing, tears streaming down my face. What can I say....I'm just a sucker for love stories. That's Rae's favorite part of the movie too, so much so that she told Nate she wants to name a daughter Evangeline...Nate says he's definately not going for that. (Apparently he didn't find the love story between a lightning bug and the North Star as beautiful as Rae and I did...)

So that's that. The end of a fabulous day. Rae and Nate leave tomorrow, and I'm not ready for that. I know Sean isn't either. But we don't have much choice, do we???

Happy Thanksgiving

Today was such a beautiful day! I woke up before the sun to start the baking...turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, yams, green bean casserole, rolls, stuffing...I even made a batch of Lion House honey butter. We enjoyed all this goodness with an assortment of sparkling ciders. After 6 hours in the kitchen, we gathered, prayed and gave thanks, and enjoyed our meal. It was SO yummy! Afterwards we had pecan and apple pie and played Phase 10, which was cut short because the guys really wanted to watch the Dallas/Miami game. Rae and I left them to that and went for a drive through the city to take pictures. I took her to the Japanese Gardens where we watched hundreds of Canadian geese taking off after their rest. She got some really great shots! We watched the sun set over the water and soaked in the beauty of it all. It was perfect.

Afterwards we got home, caught a Big Bang Theory rerun, and Sean left for work. Nate went to bed and Rae and I played WipeOut and Deca Sports on the Wii.

It was a truly beautiful day. Sean and I are so grateful for all our family. We were both excited to get to talk to everybody on the phone...even our little Milliebug. We are grateful for our blessings, great and small. We recognize that all blessings come from our Father in Heaven.

Today Rae and I got up early and went to the laundromat to get a few loads done. While Sean was at work we went to a few stores, including a really awesome scrapbooking shop. We also discovered a year round Christmas and holiday shop way out west in Sioux Falls. Afterwards we ate at Pizza Ranch. Sean met us there because he was able to get off work early. Afterwards we all 4 went to the movie theater. Rae and I saw Breaking Dawn and the guys saw Immortals. Breaking Dawn wasn't too bad. If you're comparing it to the books, it sucks. If you're comparing it to the first movies, it was great. I liked the wedding and honeymoon...it was super hott! ;o) Well after that the guys wanted to go to Austads Golf Shop, but it had closed early today. We came home, played Apples to Apples, had a Baked Potato bar for dinner, and then watched Monty Python & the Holy Grail. We're all beat so heading to bed now!

Day 4

Another fabulous day! Started off with a trip to the Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Natural Museum, followed by the U.S.S South Dakota Battleship Memorial. Then off to Looks Market. Its a really awesome European market. Then we drove across the border into Iowa to the Grand Falls Casino & Resort where we enjoyed fine dining, shopping, etc. We then all hit up Walmart and HyVee to finish our Thanksgiving meal shopping. We came home and I made chicken enchiladas for dinner, and we all played the card game "It came to pass". Afterwards Sean had to leave for work, so Nate curled up with a book while Rae and I played some Wii games. Its late and we're ready to crash now. More tomorrow!!! :)

Today was an awesome day with Rae and Nate! We all went to downtown Sioux Falls and walked the main drag, stopping in all the cute little shops along the way. Highlite was watching Nate in the Scandanavian shop surrounded by all things Denmark. It was fun to see him so giddy! We decided to stop for lunch at Chedds, a gourmet grilled cheese shop. It was super amazing! You can essentially order any sort of grilled cheese sandwich you can imagine...yum! Afterwards we went to Falls Park and walked up and down the river, taking tons of pics. It was FREEZING cold but we all had a blast! We also went to the observatory that overlooks all of Falls Park...while we were up there all the Christmas lights came on! It was really beautiful...reminded us a lot of Temple Square lights. Afterwards we stopped at HyVee, came come, played Monopoly Deal card game, and now we're all exhausted and ready to crash for the night. Promise I'll post pics once we get them downloaded!

Been totally enjoying the last few days with Rae and Nate! They flew in Friday night to spend Thanksgiving with us. Sean and I are totally loving it!!! Saturday we went to the mall and to Scheels ( the South Dakota version of Cabellas). That night we watched Zookeeper...totally hilarious! Today we went to church, watched movies, played card games and Catan, and had fondue. We're all having a blast and doin our best to keep warm in the freezing dakota weather!! More tomorrow!

Sean and I are so happy and proud to finally be an aunt and uncle! Our family was blessed by the birth of our beautiful niece, Amelia Grace Graff. We have not been blessed with our own babies yet, but we both feel that Millie is our daughter in every respect of the word. We are so so happy to have her in our lives and are grateful to God that she's part of our family. (These pictures are from Millie's blessing, our Bear Lake Trip, and in mom and dad's backyard. The top picture is her in the shirt that Uncle Sean and I bought her in South Dakota.)

Our Night in the Dark...

So yesterday was quite a day! Something happened to a few powerpoles in our neighborhood (I believe they were knocked over by the crazy wind), but we were without power for the whole day and into the night! The whole neighborhood! We had Relief Society Enrichment Night "pioneer style" in the dark with just a couple of flashlights to find the way out. Then we sat in the dark reading scriptures with a candle. Craziness!!! Makes for good memories though! :)

Well the Easter season was really nice-we spent the day with my family. We were sad to see Marissa and Jared (Sean's sister and her husband) move up to Oregon to go to school, but we got to spend some nice time with them before they left. I'm just having fun babysitting Bray and working my Mary Kay--I'm so grateful for my business. It's provided LOTS of financial help during these hard times when money is short. I'm actually super excited to be nominated to take lessons from Robert Jones, world renowned makeup artist. He's worked on Sheryl Crow, LeAnn Rimes, Beyonce, and many more and charges $2200 and HOUR!!! If I'm chosen, I'll get a weekend of lessons for FREE!!!!! YAY!!!

Well I can't really think of anything else to say. Oh, I also have been called to do Achievement Days in our new ward too. Crazy!! Well love to all!!

Ok, so I'm sorry I haven't been diligent in keeping our blog up. I've got lots of good excuses though...we got married for one, and we don't have internet for another. But I'll try to be better, I promise!! As for life, we keep plenty busy! Sean works full time as an account manager at Discover and is starting school again in the fall at LDSBC. I'm working part time as a personal caregiver for a woman with dementia, full time babysitting, and full time working my independent business selling Mary Kay cosmetics. We are keeping busy in our new ward, teaching together in the Primary. I am also on the Relief Society board and sing in the choir. We enjoy our rare days off together on the couch watching movies since we're too dirt poor to go out on real dates together. I love being a wife--I get plenty of time to cook and master my kitchen skills. Cleaning doesn't bother me too bad, and laundry I could do without. All in all, life is good and the Lord is truly blessing us!!! Love to all!

How Time Flies...

I was blogging faithfully and then **POOF**---next thing I know almost a month has flown by and nothing was blogged. Good grief. Needless to say, life has been rather crazy for both Sean and I. He is busy at work everyday and I am busy trying to put this wedding together and playing driver for Sean. We are surviving though and doing our best to enjoy this time as it flies by. The pics above are of Sean and I (notice he's sporting his brand new BYU sweatshirt--I couldn't believe the luck I had in finding one his size!!!) The second one was taken at our Girls Nite Reunion. Margaret, Anna, Sabrina, and me met at Mimi's Cafe and had a BLAST! It was nice to be with friends.

Sean and I are pleased to announce that one of us is EMPLOYED!!! YAY!!! He was offered a position today with Discover Financial Services as an Account Manager. YAY!!! Also, just an update on my bridal portraits yesterday...can I just say AMAZING?!? I want SO badly to post some pics here but alas, I cannot. If anyone wants some pics (and promises with ALL their heart they won't show Sean), then get me your email and I'll be happy to share with you! :)

She insisted on putting on her Halloween costume to show me. She's a pink and purple butterfly--SO CUTE!!!!

So Sara and I went to Madame Butterfly and had a wonderful time. Afterwards we picked up Anjali, went home, made pizza for a late night dinner, and stayed up for a long time talking. The next morning we made German pancakes for breakfast and then went to Southtowne Mall and had a great time. Anjali even got to ride the carousel! It was just an awesome day!

Wonderful Conference Weekend

Okay so I didn't post anything the last couple days of the trip, partly because the site wouldn't download my pictures, and partly cause I didn't wanna waste any of my precious time clicking away on a computer. It was pretty amazing though--on Monday we went on a date and did lunch in the park and later that night met with a jeweler to look at rings (AUGHHHH!!!!). On Tuesday we went back into St. Louis and Sean and I wandered for hours inside the Missouri State Botanical Gardens. It was so incredibly beautiful! Walking hand and hand....so peaceful. I was mighty sad that the Japanese TeaHouse was closed, but I suppose it was for the best. After that we went home, cleaned up and rested a bit and then Sean took me out for seafood. YUMMY!! Then we rented Iron Man and laid up most of the night talking. Wednesday morning I packed everything up and we sat together at the airport until it was my time to go. It was all just so amazing for me, like living in a dream. Now we have 2 weeks until Sean moves out to Utah and I'll be waiting patiently for that time... (By the way, the site still isn't letting put pics on here...I'll keep trying!)

BUSY WEEKEND

On Saturday we all went into St. Louis and I got more of "the grand tour". We went to the St. Louis Zoo which was totally awesome! Today Sean spoke in church and did a great job. After church we went to a park and had a picnic and took a rest before driving down to Fort Kaskaskia. It was a really awesome day and I got to see a lot of the area.

Today we went to the Columbia High football game (Sean's High School) and they totally kicked butt!! The final score was 50-7. That puts Columbia High ranked #1 in the state of Illinois. YAY! Brendan (Sean's little brother) also played with the band and he did a great job. I paid attention really well, except for when Sean was kissing me. (sigh....). Fabulous day--we'll post more later!

Today Sean and I went to eat at Steak and Shake (AMAZING!!!) and then he took me to the mall. We came home, rested a bit, then got to work making dinner together for the family. It turned out pretty good. After dinner I told Jeremy that I'd pay him a 2 dollar bill if he jumped into the very cold swimming pool. He immediately jumped up, ran out and jumped in the pool! Crazy boy!!! After that, I watched the boys have sword fights, and then Sean and I left to go stargazing. We stopped out in the middle of nowhere next to a spooky lookin tree and we talked for hours. Very nice evening (minus the bugs). I'll just end with this:

(Late Post)- It's Wednesday morning and we didn't get a chance to post last night. We all went down to the tennis courts yesterday and played...it was a lot of fun! I also found some more really big, really ugly lookin bugs. This morning I awoke to join the fam for morning scripture study. I will not post a picture of this, simply because I looked slightly scary and feel no need to share that with the world. I did, however, take a picture of mom in her school bus (she stopped by the house so I could see it.) When she gets back Sean and I are gonna take the minivan and search for some high adventure!!! Ok so we were gonna post last night about Sunday and the computer cord wasn't working. Sean tried fixing it but it's started sparking so needless to say....no post. Yesterday we went to church--my first experience in a branch--it was very nice and everyone was so friendly. I went to Young Womens with Mom Beyer and just loved all the girls there. It was funny cause as you can see in the picture, Sean and I were matching. What's funny is that we didn't even know what the other one was gonna wear. We are SO in-sync!! After church the Oxborrow family invited us all over for Taco Soup and brownies to watch The Best Two Years. We had a very enjoyable time--they are such good people.

Now it's Monday. We woke up and headed to Circuit City to buy a new computer cord to replace the one that was smoking the night before, and here we sit now. More later!!!

Day Two in Illinois

Ok so we had a totally chill day. We lounged around the house til Mom got home, then we went to Walmart and bought Sean some allergy medication and stuff to make enchiladas. Then we came home and started watching the movie Cars cause Sean hadn't seen it yet. Then we ate dinner and chilled some more. (By the way Mom's enchiladas were freakin amazing!) Well that's all to report for today.

Well Sean and I finally arrived in St. Louis!!! I was sick and crying in the car on the way to the airport, but did okay once I saw him. Airport handshake was super duper awkward, but it was over soon enough. Afterward we went to the stake president's house and got him released.
We got home and his mom and brothers dumped out his bags and started going through everything. Everyone finally went to bed and Sean and I ended up staying ALL night talking. No joke...as of right this very instant I have been awake for 38 hours straight. I'm riding a serious mental high...Ok. So today we laid around the house until about 3pm, ate sandwiches and went shopping at Sam's, and then we stopped to buy Sean some civilian clothing. Afterwards we went to his (Sean says OURS) grandparents farm and saw the cute puppies and the freaky huge spiders (see picture above). Now we are chillin and gettin ready to eat dinner. More tomorrow!!

Ok so in 35 hours Sean and I will meet in St. Louis!!! I am SO excited and SO nervous! It'll be way awesome to visit St. Louis--I've never been there before. The next time I post here WE'LL BE TOGETHER!!! YAY!!!!

Beautiful Bridesmaids

It took 2 days, lots of laughs, a few tears, and one case of severe nerves, but the bridesmaid dresses are ordered and purchased!!! I decided to go with the latte and champagne colored dresses with truffle brown jackets. The colors are so beautiful together. My sisters Rachel, Sarah, and Anna are going to be my bridesmaids, along with Sean 's sister Marissa. I don't have all the pictures with me right now, so I'll have to post them later. This one is of Marissa in her champagne colored dress. The jacket is the right one, but obviously it's the wrong color. She looks really pretty in it. I'll post the other pictures ASAP!

My sister Sarah and I found this winter wedding cloak at Frenze's and I decided to try it on. It'll be a cold winter day on January the 9th and I'm debating whether or not to buy one for outside the temple. Some say yes and some say no. What do YOU say??

In Exactly One Week From This Very Moment...

It is now 8:30pm Wednesday September 10th, 2008. In exactly one week from this very moment, I will be standing in the St. Louis Lambert International Airport watching Elder Sean Beyer walk towards me. The butterflies are seriously starting to set in! I need to start focusing now on shopping and packing for the big trip. I came across some pics of my sweet Elder Beyer... The top one is with his old comp Elder Nieves, and the bottom one is he and his current comp, Elder Burton. It's funny--Elder Nieves is my next door neighbor, and Elder Burton is in my stake. Small world huh?

So here they are, sitting at my parents house along with all the other stuff we've acquired. I'm just grateful that we have so much already. We've been so blessed...

Poor Guy

Ok so I got a 15 (yes...15!) page letter from Sean yesterday describing the awful luck he's had over the last couple of days. His bike seat broke, the chain broke, the brand new tires exploded, which caused many missed appointments AND he and Elder Burton's cell phone was stolen at the library. He could probably use some prayers right now...

On a funny note, he gave me a good laugh though when he said he walked into Ross and saw two ties that he JUST COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT! I wondered what was so special about them that he JUST couldn't live without them. It'll be interesting indeed to see the vast collection of crazy ties he's acquired over the last couple of years.

Ok so I'm officially starting our blog. I think it'll be a great way to keep in touch with people, being that wherever Sean and I end up, we'll have family and friends out of state. It's kind of funny for me to see "Kirsten Beyer" at the top of the page, being that I'm not quite a Beyer yet, but that too will be here before I know it. Right now, I'm just working away and getting ready for Sean's homecoming in 12 days from today. He's been honorably serving an LDS mission in Carlsbad California for the last two years and will return home on September 17, 2008 (my 24th birthday!). So that's the grand story in a nutshell. Hopefully we can keep this blog up and going for all to enjoy!
